T-Shirt Illustrations
nvohk, an eco-friendly clothing company managed by the people who wear it, asked me to create a series of illustrations which would be voted on, with the winners becoming the graphics on their first line.
I aimed for a handmade feel for this series, with a playful-but-masculine feel and dealing with topics and situations related to the intended audience.
Many visual metaphors were used, some more obvious than others. Toned-down colors were used, keeping in mind the surface they would be printed on (American Apparel organic cotton shirts) and ink that would be used (PVC-free).
Different line-weights and qualities of line were used to achieve different levels of impact, with some coming across as cartoony, while others were more sketchy and grungy.
